Police: GPS Thefts, Broken Windows by Train Station

New Castle police warn residents to be careful with valuables.

New Castle Police sent out a message to the community announcing that there were two reports of GPS devices being stolen from cars, with their windows broken, near the Chappaqua train station.

The reports came in Monday, stating that the thefts happened that day during the daytime.

The devices were readily visible, police said.

"In both instances, the GPS units were left in plain sight, either on the dashboard or attached to the windshield," a police statement reads. Patrols near town-run parking lots will be increased as a result.

Police, in the statement, reminded the public to be vigilent in guarding valuables, to keep them out of plain sight and to call the department at 914-238-4422 to report activity.
