Police: Man Charged With DWAI, Had Kids in Vehicle

The police blotter includes arrests but not convictions.

DWAI Arrest; Man Had Two Kids in Car

A Port Chester man, 26, was arrested on Feb. 16 and charged with driving while ability impaired (DWAI). The man was pulled over on Main Street and had two kids in his car, Mount Kisco police said; a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old were reportedly in the vehicle. The incident was referred to the state's Child Protective Services.

Because the charge is DWAI, which involves a blood alcohol content level that's under .08, Leandra's Law does not apply. Leandra's Law makes a felony of driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge - it involves having a .08 BAC or higher - with a person who is under age 16.
