A White Plains man has been charged with a misdemeanor crime, Possession of Burglar's Tools, following a foot pursuit Tuesday night.
According to a press release from the Pleasantville Police Department, "An off-duty Pleasantville Police officer noticed a man wearing a mask and carrying a satchel on Jackson Alley just after midnight and notified Headquarters. When the officer identified himself as a police officer to the individual, the subject fled the scene. He was captured after a short foot pursuit."
Police are calling the man "a person of interest" in a number of burglaries, as well as attempted burglaries, that night.
The 63-year-old White Plains resident was processed and remanded to Westchester County Jail.
According to jail records, there is no bail set in the case and the man is due in Village Court on August 20.
"In addition, the Pleasantville Police Department has reason to believe
that other locations may have been targeted, either in Pleasantville or surrounding communities," the press release stated.
The Police Department requests anyone who witnessed "suspicious activity" Tuesday Tuesday night to call 769-1500.
