Police: Woman Fell for Lottery Scam, Gave Money

The amount given over is unclear, but the report came in as a grand larceny, which indicates that it could've been over $1,000.

A Mount Kisco woman reportedly fell for a fake lottery scam, according to Mount Kisco police.

The report came on Feb. 19 at 2:24 p.m. The apparent scam in question involved the woman being told that she won a lottery but had to send in money intended to pay taxes on the fake prize.

The woman ended up giving money, police said, although the amount is not clear. However, the report came in as a grand larceny, and under New York State law, a grand larceny involves the theft of items valued at $1,000 or more.
