Sandy: Chappaqua Crossing Becomes 24-Hour Shelter

Red Cross, Northern Westchester Hospital, open new facility for residents.

Chappaqua Crossing is now serving as a 24-hour shelter for people hit by Hurricane Sandy, New Castle Police announced Thursday afternoon.

The Red Cross, working with Northern Westchester Hospital, have made the shelter possible, police announced.

There will be room for warming and recharging electronics, police said.

Chappaqua Crossing is located at 480 Bedford Rd. in Chappaqua.

The shelter is one of multiple opened in the area. New Castle's Community Center in downtown Chappaqua is serving the same role, according to the town.
