Today: Fire Department Open Houses & Millwood Groundbreaking

Firefighters in Millwood, Chappaqua and Mount Kisco will each be holding open houses today.

Millwood's will be preceded by the groundbreaking for its new firehouse, which is off of Millwood Road and is several hundred feet to the east of the existing building. That event will start after an 11:15 a.m. gathering. Once the groundbreaking is done, the open house will begin at 1 p.m. at Station #1, with truck rides, kids' crafts and barbecue.

Chappaqua's is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the firehouse at the intersection of Route 120 and Route 117. Activities include a fire extinguishment, a car extrication simulation and a building that will have smoke for practice. There will also be refreshments.

Mount Kisco's is also scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be held at the firehouse on Green Street. The day will include firetruck rides, the fire department announced.
