Work Starts for New Millwood Firehouse

After years of preparation, a bond referendum and New Castle Planning Board approval, work has started for the new Millwood firehouse.

The start involves site work for the project, the Millwood Fire District announced on its Facebook page. The changes include carving out a path and clearing vegetation.

The fire district also announced on its Facebook page that it was issued a building permit from New Castle's Building Department on Aug. 27.

The new site, which is almost nine acres, will have an address of 100 Millwood Road, just outside of the downtown Millwood area. The firehouse itself will be around 18,000 square feet and have five bays. It will replace the existing Station No. 1, which was built in the 1920s and is located at 60 Millwood Road.
