A public comment period is under way for the New Castle Town Board's environmental determination of Conifer Realty's Chappaqua Station affordable housing proposal.
The vote, which was a conditioned negative declaration, was passed by the town board last week by a 3-2 vote and stated that the proposal, which is a 28-unit apartment building, will not have a significant environmental impact.
The town will be accepting written comment until Sept. 3 at 5 p.m. People can email their comments to chappaquastation@town.new-castle.ny.us and the town board's next major vote on the project will be its last, which will be for a special permit needed for the proposal. That vote will come after the comment period.
