County Lawmakers Grant Tax Exemption to Byram Lake

Giving Mount Kisco residents a tax break, the Westchester County Board of Legislators on July 15 unanimously approved an act to exempt the heart of the village's water system: Byram Lake, the village's filtration plant and pumping station.

The facilities are located in Bedford and North Castle. Byram Lake also provides water to some Bedford and New Castle residents.

BOL Majority Leader Pete Harckham (D-Katonah), who represents the county’s 2nd Legislative District, which includes Mount Kisco, spearheaded passage of the Act.

“Our local municipalities are still struggling through tough economic times, so any assistance or tax relief that can be put into effect is always much appreciated,” said Harckham in the press release. “This exemption gives Mount Kisco some flexibility in terms of financial resources, which should be of benefit to the local taxpayers.”
