Mt. Kisco Attorney & Bedford Town Justice Dies at 57

Kevin Quaranta was battling skin cancer.

Bedford town justice Kevin Quaranta passed away Thursday night after a battle with melanoma, Patch has learned. Quaranta was 57-years-old.

Patch was informed by Bruce Yablon, Bedford's Democratic Committee chairman.

Quaranta lived in Bedford with his wife, Judy, and three children. He worked formerly as a district attorney in the Bronx, and served as in the United States Army's legal division during the first Persian Gulf War. He also had a law firm, Quaranta and Associates, based in Mt. Kisco.

Erik Jacobsen, the town's co-justice, had worked alongside Quaranta for three years.

"Kevin was a learned justice and trusted friend," Jacobsen said. "The bench came naturally to him and he had a passion for it. He often placed the needs of the town before his his own. He will be greatly missed."

is handling arrnagements, Quaranta's law firm confirmed. Family, friends and residents can pay their respects this coming Sunday and Monday; specific times have not yet been set.
