Mount Kisco Trustees Approve Parking Fine Hikes; Meter Fine is Unchanged

Mount Kisco's Village Board of Trustees voted unanimously at its recent meeting to raise parking fines for 24 out of its 99 violation categories.

The board, at the meeting last week, declined to raise the fine amount for metered parking. That amount will remain at $10, instead of the increase to $20 that was originally proposed.

The fine increases range from a $25 rise for parking in a fire zone (from $50 to $75) to a $50 increase for improper use of handicapped parking (from $75 to $125).

In general, the increases for the categories included amounts of either $5, $10, $15 or $25.

The board also voted unanimously to give itself the authority to adjust parking fines without having to amend the village code itself, which was the previous method. Now, the board can either change a fee schedule or individual fines, according to Mayor Michael Cindrich.
