New Castle Election Turnout 'Brisk'; About 900 Reported in Mt. Kisco

New Castle Town Clerk Jill Shapiro said there has been a "brisk turnout today."

Voting in town comes amid a contested - and contentious - series of town board elections. The Democratic slate includes Town Administrator Penny Padrewski for supervisor, along with incumbent Councilman John Buckley and former Councilman Michael Wolfensohn for two available council seats. Challenging them is the Team New Castle slate, which has the Republican and Independence ballot lines. Its candidates are Rob Greenstein for supervisor, along with Adam Brodsky and Lisa Katz for council seats.

In Mount Kisco around 900 had voted, according to Village Manager James Palmer in an afternoon update. Palmer also serves as the village clerk.

Mount Kisco's elections for mayor and two trustee seats, which were slated to be uncontested, are the subject of a write-in ticket's challenge. Patric Kilkenny is the write-in candidate for mayor and Don Holohan is seeking a trustee seat. Their issues include opposition to a potential police consolidation with the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.
