New Castle Town Board to Appoint Interim Judge

The Town Board will meet tonight for its annual organizational meeting, which is usually held at the start of every year and contains mostly procedural items.

The New Castle Town Board is expected tonight to appoint an interim town justice to fill the seat vacated by David Zuckerman, according to an agenda meeting packet.

Zuckerman, who was elected to be a Westchester County judge, also has his resignation on the agenda, which is retroactively effective to Dec. 31, 2012. His temporary successor has an appointment that will run from Jan. 2 to Dec. 31 of 2013. The interim judge will be paid $26,500.

The meeting being held is called an organizational meeting, which is used for annual procedural items and annual renewals. Examples including reappointing Elise Kessler Mottel, who is an elected councilwoman, to Deputy Supervisor, and reappointing Town Administrator Penny Paderewski.
