A petition has been submitted to the Village/Town of Mount Kisco for rezoning land currently owned by the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester. The rezoning proposal is connected to a deal where the village will buy the majority of the club's land for $600,000, which was announced in October.
The petition was submitted last week and is included in packet material for Wednesday's village board of trustees meeting. It and calls for multiple rezoning actions on the property, which is comprised of seven tax parcels. The portion that Mount Kisco will buy, according to the petition, is about 6.3 acres and will become three parcels. Most of that land, which is about 5.8 acres, is zoned RM-12 Medium-Density Multifamily District, according to the petition, which seeks to change recreational usage. The RM-12 zone allows for about 10 housing units per acre, according to the submission material. The remainder of the land involved in the transaction is currently zoned as OG General Office District and would stay that way. The OG-zoned land has frontage along Route 172.
The petition also calls for rezoning a portion of the property that the club will still own from RM-12 to recreational usage. Additionally, it proposes rezoning land that is next to Grove Street Extension and Laurel Drive. The land, which currently has three different zones covering it, is proposed to fall entirely under the RS-12 Low-Density One-Family Residence District and to be subdivided. This would allow, based on what was disclosed in October, for the construction of new homes.
The Boys & Girls Club's property is around 12 acres, Executive Director Brian Skanes previously told Patch.
The petition is on the agenda for Wednesday's board meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m. at village hall. A copy of the petition, along with an accompanying letter from applicant attorney Charles Martabano, are at this link for the meeting packet.
