Town Board Holds Last Scheduled 2013 Meeting

New Castle's Town Board held its last meeting scheduled for 2013, which included approval of a 2014 budget.

Before the Dec. 10 meeting, there was a reception for three outgoing board members - they are Supervisor Susan Carpenter, Councilman John Buckley and Councilman Robin Stout - along with Town Administrator Penny Paderewski, the latter official confirmed. All of them will finish on Dec. 31, according to Paderewski.

The winners of the elections for the board seats are Rob Greenstein for supervisor, along with Lisa Katz and Adam Brodsky for council seats, according to the official county board of elections results.

Paderewski, who is leaving town government after serving New Castle for about 27 years, plans to be working elsewhere in January. She declined to disclose where she will be working next.

At the meeting, the town board approved a budget for 2014. It consists of the preliminary budget but "as amended as the Final Budget" and with a resolution listing dwelling charges for the Sold Waste District's collection.

The town board also voted to authorize accepting Paderewski's retirement.

Shortly before the town board ended its regular meeting to begin an executive session, outgoing board members gave their gratitude for service.
