Town Update: 32 Blocked New Castle Roads with Wires

Town gives update on post-Hurricane Sandy recovery.

(Below is a Sunday update from the Town of New Castle on post-Hurricane Sandy recovery):

We currently have 32 roads in New Castle blocked with downed wires. 4,490 out of 6,574 customers do not have power at the present time. The Town Board and Town Administration are in constant with Con Ed to attempt to get more crews assigned to the town.

All five schools have electrical power, note that there will be no school for students on Monday. All voting locations, with the exception of the West End 134 Firehouse, have electrical power. We will update you on the status of the Firehouse tomorrow. Should power not be available, an alternative voting location will be announced.

Shelters are open at Chappaqua Crossing and showers and charging facilities are available at the Greeley High School.

Please contact town hall at 861-8304 if you have trees down, with NO wires, on your road. A DPW crew will be dispatched to clear the road. Trees down with wires need to be taken care of by Con Ed.
