Westchester Nominations Sought for Stanley Schear Housing Award

From the Westchester County Government Website--

Nominations are being accepted for the $3,500 Stanley Schear Leadership Award, which honors people and organizations that have made meaningful and lasting contributions to improve lives through fair and affordable housing and housing services in Westchester County.

The award, now in its eighth year, honors Schear, who was a long-time Westchester resident and outstanding community leader who worked tirelessly to help people with housing needs throughout the county. Following his death in 2006, the award was established to honor him and his many achievements.

The funds for the award are from a grant from Atlantic Philanthropies and are to be used to support the work of the organization that will be honored. The breakfast is sponsored by Atlantic Philanthropies and the Westchester Public/Private Partnership for Aging Services and its Senior Housing and Services Coalition.

The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, July 15. The award will be presented at a breakfast on Sept. 16 at the White Plains Public Library, 100 Martine Ave., at 9 a.m.

The nominee should have exhibited vision and action that has produced a measurable outcome in areas such as advocacy for people in need of housing or housing services, skill building to assist in greater independence and philanthropic achievement.
