Where is Con Ed Working in New Castle? (Nov. 9)

Police give a list of the areas being worked on, Nov. 9, 2012.

New Castle Police sent out a Nixle alert on Friday detailing where Con Edison crews are working on Friday for post-Sandy restoration work. It's the second day in the row that the power company has provided such information to the town. However, according to Town Administrator Penny Paderewski, the list of roads is merely where lines are located, but not necessarily where the crew is physically doing its work. Meanwhile, police said, the town has 1,856 homes without power.

Below is a copy the list of roads:

Ludlow
Seven Bridges
Turner Dr
Northbridge Terrace
Hardscrabble Rd
Quaker Rd
White Oak Lane
Saw Mill River Rd
Saddle Ridge Rd

I do not see my road been worked on.
I do not see road that leads to my road been worked on. I have got: We are aware of the electric service problem in your area. Given current conditions, the estimated restoration time is 11:00 p.m. on 11/9/2012. We appreciate your patience. We are aware of the electric service problem in your area. Given current conditions, the estimated restoration time is 11:00 p.m. on 11/7/2012. We appreciate your patience. I have zero expectations. I have opened a "emergency center camp fire" without fire.

I don't know about the specifics of your location, but from what the town has said, just because you don't see a crew, doesn't mean they aren't doing restoration work that can bring power back to a home. They could, the town explained, be working on the feeder near by to a given home.

Town can say anything to calm down people. I have reasonably Nordic temperament.
I am have knowledge how electrical grid is working. I can see the damage and assert myself. If electrical pole is down they could not restore it somewhere else.

Con Ed is misleading us. 7 trucks on the side of the road. only 2 trucks working. What an inefficient waste. move the other 5 trucks to another location and get to work. pathetic. no wonder the USA is becomig a 4th world country. no brains.

What happened to Somerstown Road? Day 11 without power and none expected back til Sunday which will make it 13 days. This is totally unreasonable. My family's entire life has been disrupted and it will have lasting effects on our grades in school, health and otherwise.

Sarcasm is on.
I have got a new status from coned "We do not have a record of an outage at this location. If your power is out, you must let us know". No electricity and nobody is working on pole. Called ConEdison they told "We were aware that there are no power but we have just close ticket that is all" Comical.

Open question: When they finally fix your power, but others still have no power, will you be the sycophant who forgives and praises and thanks, while your neighbors freeze?? Or will you continue to advocate on their behalf? A morals question. One person suffering in the cold is one too many in my mind.

I would add a little more.
When they finally fix all damages of Sandy, Will we forget and just wait to be sheep in a next storm?

Thanks for posting this - sounds cool. What kind of projects will kids do? Also, can an incoming 6thRead More grader participate?
It's About Time June 6, 2013 at 01:45 pm
Hi Lisa! Thanks for your questions. In this unit (Vehicles In Motion) the kids will build CoasterRead More Cars and test different aspects of the motion of their vehicles such as: distance traveled, acceleration, straightness, and friction. This unit emphasizes student collaboration in order to develop a set of performance test procedures for measuring Coaster Car performance. An incoming sixth grader can definitely join! Feel free to call the number above - my co-worker will be happy to help you.
