The Bedford Central School District wants folks to fill out an Internet survey, in seeking to gauge public opinion for several proposed major schools renovations that would involve a bond vote.
The district announced that it is running the online survey until Dec. 7. The survey can be found at www.justafewmorequestions.com/bedfordcentral and it leads to a series of questions meant to measure support for items being considered for the capital plan.
The possible items include a comprehensive renovation and reconstruction of West Patent Elementary School (about $35 million), new science labs, an expanded cafeteria and new entrance for Fox Lane Middle School (roughly $7 million), and renovating the track and turf field at Fox Lane High School (about $2.8 million).
If all possible items are considered in final proposal package for a bond vote, the cost could be about $75 million, according to the district. The school board will have a status update on the capital plan at tonight's meeting, which starts at 8 p.m. in the middle school's Little Theatre.
Meanwhile, the district is pursuing an aggressive timeline over the next three months before a possible March 12 bond vote. It includes holding community sessions on Dec. 4 at West Patent Elementary (at 9:15 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.), having a recommended capital plan package for the school board at its Dec. 19 meeting, a Jan. 9 public input period before the board, and a Jan. 23 board vote on whether to send the plan to the voters for a bond referendum.
