Capital Plan, Security on Bedford Central BOE Agenda

Superintendent expected to give status update on capital plan, while security company Altaris Consulting Group will be involved in a presentation.

The Bedford Central School District's Board of Education has a busy meeting tonight.

Agenda items include a status update from Superintendent Jere Hochman on the capital plan, a package of major constuction items for the schools. Its items include a big renovation for West Patent Elementary, along with science lab, cafeteria and security upgrades for Fox Lane Middle School.

In a Jan. 30 video for his Bedford Central Buzz series, Hochman noted that he would present a recommended package at the board's Feb. 20 meeting, while the board would decide what it wants at a Feb. 27 meeting. The activity follows a communication fair held in late January, which included information booths organizated by topic, according to the Community Investment Program (CIP), a group tasked with getting the word out about the proposal.

Also, the security company retained by the district, Alteris Consulting Group, will be involved in a presentation. Alteris was retained last month to perform an audit for the district's school buildings.

The meeting starts at 8 p.m., at the middle school. Click here for the agenda.

Thanks for posting this - sounds cool. What kind of projects will kids do? Also, can an incoming 6thRead More grader participate?
It's About Time June 6, 2013 at 01:45 pm
Hi Lisa! Thanks for your questions. In this unit (Vehicles In Motion) the kids will build CoasterRead More Cars and test different aspects of the motion of their vehicles such as: distance traveled, acceleration, straightness, and friction. This unit emphasizes student collaboration in order to develop a set of performance test procedures for measuring Coaster Car performance. An incoming sixth grader can definitely join! Feel free to call the number above - my co-worker will be happy to help you.
