Chappaqua BOE: 2013-14 Budget Hearing is Tonight

Other agenda items include library budget presentation and vote on board comment for Chappaqua Crossing.

Tonight's meeting of the Chappaqua board of education will include a hearing for its proposed 2013-14 budget, including a chance for public comment.

The meeting will also include a presentation and hearing for the Chappaqua Library's proposed budget.

The proposed school budget is $103,110,993, includes a tax levy increase of 2.06 percent, and estimated tax rate increases of 2.25 percent for New Castle and 2.71 percent for Mount Pleasant. It also includes 12.39 job cuts. For more details on the budget, click here for our previous coverage.

The school board will also hold on adopting comments for the draft supplemental environmental impact statement (DSEIS) for the Chappaqua Crossing retail and grocery proposal. It includes 120,000 square feet of retail space, including room for a supermarket of 36,000 to 66,000, and comes with changes to New Castle's zoning code and master plan. The proposal is controversial among some residents who worry about traffic impact and whether the plan would constitute a new business district that negatively affect the existing business comunity.

The meeting starts at 8:15 p.m. at Horace Greeley High School. Click here for the agenda.
