Chappaqua Middle Schoolers Hold Paper Chain Parade

Event connected to Rachel's Challenge, a group named for victim of Columbine High School shooting.

Students from Chappaqua's two middle schools, and , joined together Friday to hold a paper chain parade.

The walk went through downtown Chappaqua to the plaza in front of the hamlet's train station, where the students got to wrap the chain around a series of poles in front of the war memorial. The event was inspired by a student assembly held last fall that featured Rachel's Challenge, a group named for Rachel Scott, who was the first victim of the 1999 Columbine High School shooting in Colorado.

The paper chain event was called by annual teen concert backed by New Castle CARES, which is in its final year and whose functions will be taken up by others in town, school board member Victoria Tipp announced earlier in the week. The concert was held inside the Chappaqua train station.
