She state that the application period for the job closed on April 27 and 107 candidates are being considered, both internal and external ones. An advisory commitee made up of parents, teachers, staff and administrators has been formed, which will work with central office staff to screen candidates on May 6, and the committee will interview 6-7 candidates on May 13, she said.

On May 18, 19 and possibly May 20, 2-3 finalists will meet with school board members, McKay, staff at each school in the district, parents and central office staff. McKay said that this will be followed by a walkthrough of classrooms on the week of May 23. McKay will choose a recommendation for the school board that week, and will present her recommendation on June 1.
