Shavuot Late Night Study

This Saturday: A late night adult treat in Pleasantville!

With our busy work lives - and especially for those of us with kids at home - 10 pm to midnight sometimes seems the only time we adults have to ourselves!

This Saturday night - from 10 pm to midnight - members, non-members, Jews and non-Jews will gather at Pleasantville Community Synagogue for their annual late-night study and discussion - which all takes place over a table of dairy desserts (cheesecake for some reason being the most traditional).

Rabbi Mark Sameth will be guiding the group through a study  of excerpts (all in English) from the early twentieth-century classic Legends of the Jews (Louis Ginsberg). The discussion highlights the great Jewish atheists and great Jewish believers who co-existed side by side for millenia, and focuses on what each of them brought to the table, shaping through their different world views a vibrant and still evolving world-view. The study begins the holiday of Shavuot, services for which will be held Sunday and Monday mornings at 9:00 am.

Everyone is welcome and warmly invited -  and a special word of welcome to first time attendees!
