Greeley 9th Graders Honored for Their Music
Castelli presents Certificates of Merit to students who made March trip to Albany.
Dozens of ninth graders at Horace Greeley High School were presented with Certificates of Merit on Wednesday by state Assemblyman Robert Castelli, who came to thank the students for and performing.
The students, part of the 9th Grade String Orchestra and the Concert Band, made their trip as part of Music in Our Schools Month, which is sponsored by the New York State School Music Association.
"You guys represented us very well up there," Castelli said.

The students came up, one by one, to accept their certificates and shake hands with the assemblyman. Their honors also included photos of them at the "million-dollar staircase" at the state house, which was known for its high cost when it was built in the 19th century. While up in the state capital, the students were also given a personal tour by Castelli of the state house.
Ray Lucia, who is director for the Concert Band, said it was "such a great honor for the kids." He also said that Castelli was "very gracious."

"It was a good trip for them," said Davis Knobloch, who is director for the 9th Grade String Orchestra.
