In Bedford School Board Races, Chernis Faces Hooker, While Karle is Unopposed

Three candidates, two incumbents and one challenger, are running for open seats up for election in the Bedford Central School District.

Incumbents Mark Chernis and Eric Karle will seek re-election for their seats on the Bedford Central School District Board of Education.

Chernis, the board vice president and a Bedford Corners resident, will face a challenge for his seat from Richard Hooker, a Mount Kisco resident. Hooker has been a Mount Kisco volunteer firefighter since 1981, including a 2002-04 stint as chief.

Meanwhile, Karle, a Mount Kisco resident, will run unopposed. The nature of Bedford Central races is that candidates must run for fixed seats, rather than running in an at-large field. In the latter scenario, the top vote-getters fill the number of available seats.
