Irene Outages Could Delay Start of School for Bedford Central

Chappaqua schools do not have outages and will open on time, according to superintendent.

Power outages caused by remnants of Hurricane Irene that passed through the region could delay the start of the new school year in the Beford Central School District.

In a message to the community, it was announced that the outages affected the Fox Lane campus - including Fox Lane High School, Fox Lane Middle School and the district administration building - and West Patent Elementary School. If power is not restored soon, the start of the school year could be delayed by one day.

The loss of power presents logistical and technological problems for the district, as access to data, phones and email has been lost, according to the announcement.
