Schools will be closed for at least Monday and Tuesday due to Hurricane Sandy.
Both the Chappaqua and Bedford school districts announced the closures Sunday in preparation of the storm, which is forecasted to have its highest winds on Monday and Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service, the worst winds are forecasted to hit on both days, in the 30-40 miles-per-hour range, and with gusts as high as 70 mph on Monday night.
School officials plan further updates.
In Chappaqua, Superintendent Lyn McKay will contact families through the AlertNow messaging system at 5 p.m. each evening, the district announced.
Bedford Superintendent Jere Hochman, in an email to the media, urged checking the district's website for updates.
