New Chappaqua School Board Takes Over

Board of Education had meeting Wednesday

The Chappaqua Central School District Board of Education held its first meeting Wednesday for the 2010-11 school year.

Randall Katchis and Jeffrey Mester were each sworn in for their terms. Mester, who served as president for the 2009-10 school year, was re-elected in May, while Katchis was was elected to his first term.

Subsequently, Janet Benton replaced Mester as president, and will serve for this school year. Gregg Bresner, in turn, will replace Benton as vice president for the year. Also joining the board was Superintendent John Chambers, who assumed the position on an interim basis on July 1, after David Fleishman stepped down before taking the same position at the Newton, MA school system.
