School Reopens at Greeley Without a Hitch

Once again, seniors arrived in droves with celebratory painted cars. Irene's aftermath had no impact, principal says.

With summer over, the campus at Horace Greeley High School was once again teaming with students, as a new school year began Tuesday throughout the Chappaqua Central School District.

The parking lot was filled with students' cars, painted in Greeley orange and blue to celebrate the class of 2012. Several seniors sported class T-shirts on their way to campus.

"It's been great so far," said Principal Andrew Selesnick. The day included a introductory assembly, followed by assemblies for each grade, he said.

The effects of Tropical Storm Irene didn't put a damper on things at Greeley, either, according to Selesnick.
