Photos: Mt. Kisco Little League Kicks Off 2012 Season

Annual parade through downtown to Leonard Park marks start of spring baseball in the village.

A sunny Saturday morning marked the start to the Mount Kisco Little League's spring season, with throngs of kids and parents marching in a parade from downtown to Leonard Park.

Kids marched in an array of bright uniform colors, which are backed by local businesses as sponsors. It was announced that Little League has several new sponsors for this year, including Mount Kisco Child Care Center, M&R Deli and Mt. Kisco Seafood.

"This is one of these days that you're never going to forget," Little League President Ed Reilly told the large crowd that gathered at one of the park's baseball fields.

Charles Pieragostini, the village's recreation superintendent, noted the support that folks have given. "Through all these years, it's just tremendous," he said.

Honored this year was 15-year village resident Lou Varamo, who owns Varamo Construction, which is also sponsoring a team. Varamo was praised for his work in supporting the recreation department, including help to replace a creek bridge that was damaged last year by Tropical Storm Irene, and in donating items for the village's annual Halloween event at the park.
