Conservationists Talk Invasive Plants

First Winter Forum on Invasives at the Pound Ridge Library!

Last night's forum was very exciting! Over 50 residents showed up to hear what's happening to fight invasives in our area. We were amazed at the full house, especially since we were competing against the Patriots' game, the bad weather and Downton Abbey!

Pound Ridge resident, Barbara Gerson, Sandy Paget from the Henry Morgenthau Preserve, Tait Bushell from the Pound Ridge Land Conservancy and Mark Weckel from the Mianus River Gorge Preserve, each presented highly engaging talks about invasives. The panel was moderated by Gail Jankus, Chair of the Pound Ridge Conservation Board.

Help us continue the buzz! Our next event is a planning session on February 3 at 7 p.m. at the Pound Ridge Library. We know we are competing with the Super Bowl, but we should be able to get you home in time for the second half!

You had a packed house last night! I showed around 7:10, but was ultimately forced to turn around because there were literally no spots. I was going to somehow squeeze in, but there was an adjacent homeowner informing the incoming vehicles that there was not enough room for firetrucks to get through. Anyways, congrats on a well attended event, and look forward to future ones!
