Student event highlights the battle against cancer.

The football field at Horace Greeley High School was alive Saturday night for the students' annual Relay for Life gathering, an occasion meant to higlight awareness about cancer and to honor those lost to the illness.

Turnout was in the hundreds, according to senior Aaron Gold, who served as one of the event chairs. More than $100,000 was raised.

The fun-filled evening included music from students, an improvsied dunk tank and groups of students armed with water guns and water balloons. As night fell, the event was marked with a solumn luminaria ceremony, as students cracked glow sticks and remembered loved ones who succumbed to cancer. It was followed with a silent walk around the track, then an all-night camp out.
