Fox Lane Youth Lacrosse held its second-annual Laxin4Tony Jamboree this past weekend, a chance for some of the area's younger lacrosse players to have games against teams from around the region.
The jamboree, held at , was held in two phases: On Saturday for girls and Sunday for boys, with each in grades 5-8.
Sheila Smith, who helped organize the event, said the event included a shot competition, clinics from Major League Lacrosse players and demonstrations by groups such as No Limit Lacrosse and Maverik. Both days included round robin playing, Smith said.
The event is in honor of Tony Ciccone, a Fox Lane alum who was paralyzed during a 2001 lacrosse game. Proceeds are intended to help for his expenses, and Smith reported that this year's event will bring in at least $30,000.
