Community Corner

Welcome PatchWorks to Chappaqua-Mt. Kisco!

Patch is proud to announce the launch of PatchWorks, a new neighborhood platform that can help you raise money and recruit volunteers.

Through PatchWorks, your neighbors can create, share and celebrate local projects and causes with the community. The platform allows participants to recruit and sign up volunteers, collect money online and set up ways to collect donations.

Check out the first local projects to be supported by PatchWorks:

• Jenny's Hope Rescue is a local non-profit that rescues dogs from shelters and finds them a new home; the group also runs a seniors programs, pairing dogs with older residents. The organization is seeking funds to continue their programs. See the details here.

• Bedford Hills/Katonah Little League is actively fundraising to bring back the lights at their Main Field. The winds of Hurricane Sandy brought one light pole crashing through the adjacent bleachers. The remaining light poles were determined to be weakened, as well, and had to be taken down. See the details here.

• The Chappaqua Fire Department—comprised entirely of volunteers—is seeking donations support community outreach efforts like the annual Easter Egg Hunt and parade expenses. See the details here.

• RideConnect, a program of Family Services of Westchester, is based in Mount Kisco. We provide information, referral and volunteer transportation services to older adults, the disabled and home health workers in Westchester County. We are currently seeking volunteers to help provide rides to the populations mentioned previously. We have many clients seeking rides, yet not enough volunteers to fulfill the need. See the details here.
