<p>Born and raised in the small fishing port village of Vigo, Spain, La Camelia owner Antonio Alvarez spent his childhood years enjoying the culinary talents of both his mother and grandmother. When he opened his restaurant in 1984, Alvarez determined that the cuisine and atmosphere at La Camelia was going to be distinctive.</p>
<p>"We serve the food of Spain," Alvarez explains. "Not to be confused with Spanish-American or Mexican dishes."</p> <p>Authentic recipes from Spain include appetizers such as Pulpo de Galicia and Croquetas de Bacalao, and entrees like Conchas de Mar y Tierra or Terrera al Jerez. There are also exquisitely prepared daily specials which promise to delight the taste buds of any food enthusiast. The interior and exterior of La Camelia is elegant, old-world and exceedingly warm.</p>
