Clearly, Mr. Vallorosi was not a "responsible' gun owner and just your garden variety gun nut.Read More He had the means and the twisted motive and perhaps the opportunity to use deadly force to shoot his wife with a gun he may or may not have legally possessed. Luckily for her he was a poor shot .Not many people survive a shotgun blast at close range. it is unlikely that this event much like the Sandy hook shootings will have any persuasive impact on public attitudes toward gun policy. in any event, many deadly altercations like this one occur because of the escalation of tension already existing between people. it a worn cliché but Mr. Valerosi has some "anger management issues" and but for the presence of a shot gun in his home he may well have used other means to try to kill his wife like a blunt instrument, a knife or even his bare hands. The tool people use to kill others is immaterial. Dead is dead. However his choice of weapon was indeed a shot gun, probably the most deadly killing machine in his possession and in a fit of anger that gun was available and he used to express his anger. Its a hell of a way to make a statement like "I am mad and am not going to take it anymore." It is a well established fact that most people are not killed by strangers but by people well known to them who have guns. Adam Lanza's mother was his first victim.

So quick to make judgements.... Our police officers are trained professionals to respond to a callRead More accordingly... For those critical a little faster. Take for a minute the thought of your child traumatically hurt or injured. You would pray that a police officer and emergency personel would be at your side to help as quick as possible... When you see an emergency vehicle.. Fire engine, police, or ambulance... Get out of there way... They are responding as quickly and safely to our rescue!! Pull over to the right quickly and let them help and serve us... And thank you.. To all our volunteer fire dept members and ambulance members and those officers protecting us. Something I feel strongly about!! Justin pieragostini

Oh Justin Please! Police who drive at excessive speeds and are not tested and trained to drive toRead More an urgent call can't help you or your child in need if they are crashing into EACH OTHER and running THEMSELVES over. This has been going on for months now with several officers needing to be taken to the hospital with injuries.

How the times have changed. When I covered IBM for McGraw-Hill many, many years ago, we were awareRead More that IBM people wore only white shirts with ties to work, showed up without fail on weekends at IBM's recreational facilities, never ordered alcoholic beverages through room service when traveling, and NEVER, NEVER were fired no matter what. If IBM didn't like your job performance, you simply didn't get a raise. Some IBM employees went 10 years or more without an increase in pay.
