Kickboxing For Fitness Rules For Life – Focus

There are always going to be distractions. Something will always come up to try and get in between you and your goal. The older we get the more distractions there will be. The stronger their power to pull us in the wrong direction. Work and family are two of the strongest I’ve come across. Finding the time to fit my personal martial arts training in while managing the school and spend much needed time with my wife and son. We must find the strength to stop all the noise, the forces pulling at us to handle our responsibilities as spouses or parents and realize that focusing on ourselves every once in a while is actually going to be for the benefit of all those around us. If you need to lose weight or get in shape then you aren’t doing a service to your family. If you want more quality time with family when quantity of time is impossible then listen up.

Doing for yourself is not selfish. Making sure to get time in everyday that is just for you will clear your mind and strengthen your resolve.

I myself become torn when thinking to do something for myself. The burden of guilt I place upon myself at times feels as heavy as a gorilla on my back. The truth be told we must focus on bettering ourselves. When we only live for others we tend to become resentful. Developing anger for the ones closest to us. When we take time to improve ourselves it spreads to our families and anyone around us like the sunlight coming over the horizon. Do you enjoy spending time with miserable people? Me neither. No one does so when you stay in shape you feel better. If you need to get in shape then doing it will rejuvenate you with a sense of self confidence that can not stop itself from reaching all those you come in contact with.

When I’m training I think of nothing. My mind goes blank. I only see whats right in front of me. Whether it be the heavy bag I’m hitting or my sparring partner. I don’t think about the rent. I don’t think about the car payments. The fact that on the weekend I need to be in three different places at once doesn’t effect me. It’s like for that two hours I’ve gotten that gorilla to get off me and go get some pudding or something. I’m no longer pulled done by the weight of my responsibilities and free to move in a direction I want to, forward. When I’m finished and my body is sore, my energy spent, my mind and heart have returned to a balanced state. Any problems I have seem so easily solved. It’s like my vision becomes so clear. I can now approach life with a positive outlook.

The only thing that really matters is that we are in a clear mind state to help our families. When the distractions of life’s burdens feel like the weight of the world we don’t not think clearly. Pressure can make you feel desperate. Stepping away from those responsibilities for a moment to train Martial Arts makes those burdens seem meaningless.

Although the specific situations are different we are all pretty much the same. We all want the best for our families and struggle to both see what it is and then achieve it. Doing for yourself is not selfish. Making sure to get time in everyday that is just for you will clear your mind and strengthen your resolve. It will remind you of the big picture and make it as bright as HDTV. So next time the world seems like it’s crashing down on you take a break and do for you. Come on into my school and lets hit some stuff. Watch and feel your trouble drip off of you with each drop of sweat. My doors are always open.
