NY State's campaign finance system is broken; it is characterized by sky-high campaign donation limits, lenient restrictions on mingling personal and campaign funds and ineffective enforcement of the laws.   In his January State of the State address, Governor Cuomo included this issue as a priority for his 2013 agenda.

But ... change will only happen if informed citizens push for reform. Please join us to learn more about the issues, how democracy can be improved in NY State through effective campaign finance reform, and what you can do to push for real reform.

For more than 20 years, the League of Women Voters of New York State has been advocating for these and other reforms to restore trust in our political system. Across the state, local league chapters are presenting a State League educational program analyzing the weaknesses of current campaign finance regulation and suggesting reform. We encourage the public to attend our forum and participate in the discussion for reform. The time is now to reform this much-maligned system.
