NBC's "The Blacklist" to Film in Pleasantville [UPDATE]

Expect limited parking in the downtown Friday evening and Saturday as filming takes place.

Update, 7:05 p.m. Friday:

The Blacklist Assistant Location Manager James McCauley says two scenes are being shot in Pleasantville over the course of just a few hours tomorrow.

The first will take place in the downtown area, near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Manville Road, the village reported earlier today.

"It's just a scene in which one of our characters, who is our main character's husband, is talking on the phone," McCauley shared with Patch.

McCauley said the production team was searching for just the right place for this scene.

"The key adjective we were looking for in this scene is some place that seemed sweet and Pleasantville is just that," he said. "It's a great village. Everyone has been very, very nice to us and very accommodating. I've had a ton of fun just in the couple of weeks preparing for it."

Also tomorrow, The Blacklist will be shooting a sequence at Breaking Ground Dance Studio, McCauley said.

"We will only be in the main area of the village for approximately three, maybe four hours," he said.

So what's this new NBC drama about anyway?

"The show is basically about a gentlemen who is #4 on the FBI's most wanted list," McCauley explained. "He gives himself up after over 20 years of being at large."

But Raymond "Red" Reddington, played by James Spader, says he will only work with Megan Boone's character.

Boone and Spader, McCauley said, will not be on location in Pleasantville tomorrow.

Another major network television series (and maybe some more celebrities) will be filming locally this weekend.

"NBC will be filming scenes for its upcoming pilot series “The Blacklist” in various locations around the Village of Pleasantville tomorrow, Saturday March 16th," Village Administrator Patricia Dwyer shared in a community memo today.

According to The Huffington Post, James Spader is set to star as the male lead in the new series.

"He'll play Raymond "Red" Reddington, a master spy and the world's most-wanted criminal, who will hand himself over to the FBI and give up all of his contacts on the condition that he must work exclusively with a rookie FBI agent (played by Megan Boone), whom he seemingly has no connection to," the site reports.

Dwyer said film crews will begin setting up around Washington Avenue and Manville Road Friday evening.

"Filming is expected to take place tomorrow at specific locations on Washington Avenue, Castleton Street, Manville Road and Wheeler Avenue," she said. "There will not be any permanent road closures or detours during these activities."

However, Manville Road and Washington Avenue will have limited street parking through 2 p.m. tomorrow, she said.

In nearby Briarcliff Manor, FOX television series The Following, starring Kevin Bacon, has filmed on multiple occasions recently. Check out more here.
