Pleasantville Community Synagogue was founded in the winter of 1997 as Westchester, New York's first “trans-denominational” synagogue, dedicated to building an inclusive home in Northern Westchester for all those seeking a progressive, spiritually-based Judaism. Our members travel to us from twenty towns, and their backgrounds range from across the full spectrum of liberal Judaism: Conservative, Reconstructionist, Reform, and Renewal.

Pleasantville Community Synagogue is a welcoming Jewish community with people of diverse traditions and backgrounds who want to share a joyous spiritual and cultural home.

Our Hebrew School, under the direction of the dynamic Galit Sperling, is highly nurturing, dedicated to encouraging the children to feel that their synagogue community is an extension of home.

Shabbat and Holiday services are held at the synagogue, located at 219 Bedford Road, Pleasantville. Shabbat services are Friday nights and Saturday mornings; check our calendar for times and other details. We hold a monthly PJ Tot Shabbat service (for those under 5) and a twice-a-month Children’s Service (for those under 9) on Friday evenings, as well as a monthly Family Education Shabbat (for those 9 and older) on Saturday mornings.

PCS is thrilled to have a new rabbi, Rabbi Julie Hilton Danan, who has led two previous congregations in Texas and California and assumed her current position last August.

PCS is a big tent and we look forward to meeting new Westchester residents who haven't visited us yet. Our doors are always open.
