NWH to Get $1 Million in Funds

Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco will get $1 million in state-associated funding for several of its upcoming projects, state Sen. Greg Ball's office announced.

The grant is part of $92.8 million to fund 84 projects in the Hudson Valley, backed by the area's. Regional Economic Development Council.

According to Ball's office, items that will be addressed through the funding include construction of six operating rooms, 13 post-anesthesia care units and surgical space.

Other projects in the area include $150,000 for an exhibit Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah and $250,000 in building renovation support money for downtown Peekskill.

“I am extremely happy to announce the Hudson Valley will receive such a large amount of these dollars. I am grateful that the Council has continued to work with the local elected officials and business members to allocate these dollars with the best interest of our community,” Ball said in a press release.

The regional council is one of 10 that were created last year by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, according to a state overview website. The purpose of them is to "develop long-term strategic plans for economic growth for their regions."

“Northern Westchester Hospital continues to experience steady growth across our surgical specialties and we are planning to modernize and expand our surgical capacity to better address the needs of our community.  As one of the area’s largest employers, this planned expansion will create additional jobs for specialized healthcare providers, physical therapists, and construction workers, among others.  We are grateful for New York State’s financial support of our work in providing high-quality surgical care for the greater Northern Westchester community,” NWH CEO Joel Seligman said in a statement.
