Dear Friends:

On Saturday, October 5th, the Chappaqua community came together once again to make our biggest difference yet in the fight against childhood hunger.  We are proud to announce that The 4th Annual Great Chappaqua Bake Sale raised more than $20,000 for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign to end childhood hunger.  In just four years, The Great Chappaqua BakeSale has raised more than $50,000.

We were honored to partner with the first Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival for a day-long event that truly celebrated children and literacy.  We thank the members of the book festival committee, including Dawn Greenberg and Madeline Finesmith, for their support of The Great Chappaqua Bake Sale and assistance in blending these two meaningful events together.  We are also grateful to Pinkalicious author Victoria Kann for donating her time to our event.  Her presence helped to attract more patrons and further communicate our messages about the national childhood hunger crisis.  We also offer our sincere gratitude to the hundreds of supporters of this event including:

·       The 100+ businesses who generously donated goods and services for our biggest raffle offering yet – more than $21,000 worth of prizes

·       The 80+ families and 15 bakeries and restaurants who baked and beautifully packaged 4,000 delicious treats

·       The 35+ volunteers who donated their time to secure raffle prizes, post flyers, share our posts on Facebook and work tirelessly the day of the event

·       The children who created and donated beautiful rainbow looms, made signage, helped publicize the event and worked all day at the bake sale

What an incredible day it was – friends, families and community came together to ensure that children in New York State have the nutritious meals they need to live, learn and grow. We are very fortunate to live in such a generous community committed to bettering the lives of all children as well as to teaching our own children the true meaning of charity.

We look forward to the 5th Annual Great Chappaqua Bake Sale and Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival next September 27, 2014.

Warm regards,

Allison Spiegel, Jessica Reinmann & Holly Blum
