Girl Hit by Vehicle Was Conscious; No Charges for Driver

New Castle girl was alert after being struck by vehicle Friday, near intersection of Courtmel and Route 133.

The girl who was near the New Castle-Mount Kisco border was conscious and alert during response, police said Saturday.

She was hit by the vehicle near the intersection of Courtmel Road and Route 133 (Millwood Road) in New Castle, reportedly because she tried to get lemonade from a stand in front of a home close to it. The girl is a neighbor of that home, according to police.

The driver, a male, has been not charged, police confirmed.

No further details about the girl's condition were supplied by police, but according to a Journal News story, they included head and leg injuries, and they are not believed to be life threatening.

The girl was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, which treats more serious injuries than , the later of which is closer.
