Trucker in Kennedy Accident Charged with Leaving Scene

Rocco Scuiletti, a Dutchess County resident, was charged with leaving the scene of the vehicle accident. He's due in North Castle court on Aug. 7.

The truck driver involved in Kerry Kennedy's Friday car accident has been charged with leaving the scene of it, state police said.

Rocco Scuiletti, a 47-year-old Dutchess County resident, was driving his truck on Interstate 684 in North Castle on Friday when Kennedy's vehicle, a 2008 gray Lexus sedan, struck his 2011 International tractor trailer, police said.

A subsequent investigation, state police said, determined that Scuiletti knew about the accident and did not report it. Scuiletti's address shows that he lives near a border area for Poughkeepsie and LaGrange.

Scuiletti is due in North Castle justice court, located in Armonk, on Aug. 7, state police said.

Kennedy, a Bedford resident and former wife of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, , based on consultation she received from doctors. She in North Castle court on Tuesday and is due back on Aug. 14.

Scuiletti is skeptical about a seizure causing the accident, according to Newsday. "She looked to me like someone who was heavily intoxicated or on drugs," he told the news site.
