Fire Elections: Unofficial Data Show Upset in Chappaqua

Unofficial numbers show challenger Brian Jabloner defeating incumbent Barry Zezze in the race for New Castle Fire District No. 1, which manages the Chappaqua Fire Department. Meanwhile, Millwood's Makowska wins another term unopposed.

Challenger Brian Jabloner appears to have unseated incumbent Barry Zezze in the race for the Board of Fire Commissioners for New Castle Fire District No. 1, according to unofficial data corroborated by multiple officials.

The data show Jabloner, a Chappaqua fire captain, with 138 votes to 86 for Zezze.

The Zezze family is a fixture in the fire department, with multiple generations serving. Zezze's wife Nancy is also secretary for the board.

The fire district oversees the Chappaqua Fire Department and covers southern and central parts of the Town of New Castle.

Makowska Wins in Millwood

Incumbent Hala Makowska, who ran unopposed, easily won re-election Tuesday to the Board of Fire Commissioners for the Millwood Fire District.

Makowska, who chairs the board, received all 28 votes cast, the district confirmed.

Millwood's fire district oversees the Millwood Fire Department. It covers the western section of New Castle, including the Millwood hamlet, the West End and western Chappaqua.
