Chappaqua Central School District Releases More Detailed Proposed Tax Numbers For Budget

Contingency budget, tax impact on New Castle itself, are listed.

The Chappaqua Central School District will present in-depth numbers for its tax revenue, and for the budget tax increase at tonight's Board of Education meeting at Horace Greeley High School. The budget currently calls for a 2.32 percent tax levy increase, and the presentation notes that almost 90 percent of the district's revenue comes from real property taxes. For numbers specific to New Castle, a 2.38 percent tax increase, or $2.22 per $1,000 of assessed value, is listed.

The presentation also states that the district will receive $6,717,851 in state aid, ranging from BOCES funding to building aid.

Contingency budget numbers have also been released and show a 0.32 percent spending hike, versus a 1.90 percent increase for the proposed budget. If, in the event that voters reject the budget (the state allows for a budget to be put up for a vote up to two times, with one required) then the district can move to a contingency budget without a vote.
