No After-School Events at Chappaqua's Middle Schools

Transportation an issue, while events will continue at Greeley.

(Below is the Chappaqua Central School District's announcement):

This is Lyn McKay, Superintendent of Chappaqua Schools.  I know that many of you are still without power, and these times are not easy for you or your children.  I can report, that during the day, I am seeing great teaching and learning occurring, and I see many happy students. Our attendance is high, which is a great tribute to all families.

Seven Bridges and Bell middle schools will NOT have after-school activities today, Nov. 8 or tomorrow, Nov. 9,  because of continuing transportation complications.  Greeley will have after school activities, but only students whose regular bus routes run in the morning can take the late bus home in the afternoon.  All other students staying late will have to picked up by parents.

The majority of bus routes will be open tomorrow, with just a few exceptions.  Please see our CCSD website for an updated bus list, or you may call Chappaqua Transportation at 238-4404, Ext. 6.   Chappaqua Transportation updates its list throughout the day. We will have no centralized pick-ups tomorrow.

To help alleviate traffic issues at Roaring Brook and Seven Bridges we are placing extra staff to assist in directing traffic in the morning and afternoon.   I recognize how frustrating long lines can be.  We are hopeful that the volume of drivers will begin to subside as power is restored and families can move back into their homes.

Veterans Day, Monday, November 12 is a legal holiday.  Schools will be closed.  We are not allowed to open schools on that day.

Greeley gym will remain open for showers, charging devices, and as a place to get warm from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm today and tomorrow. Over the 3-day weekend it will be open from 8:00 am to 4:00pm each day.

Once again, thank you for your cooperation.  I also want to thank our Board of Education, all Chappaqua staff, the Department of Public Works, Chappaqua Transportation, New Castle Police, and New Castle town officials for all of their help.  Let’s hope we can get back to normal times soon.  Have a nice day.
