Seven Bridges Principal Martha Zornow to Step Down

Zornow's departure is effective at the end of the school year, Chappaqua superintendent announces, as she will become principal at New York City's Public Prep program

Seven Bridges Middle School Principal Martha Zornow will step down at the end of the current school year, Chappaqua schools Superintendent Lyn McKay announced Monday evening.

Zornow is leaving to take over as principal of the Public Prep program, which is located in New York City, McKay wrote.

"Martha has been an outstanding administrator--a supporter of students and faculty alike," McKay stated. "She has been a leader through challenging times and has always maintained the very highest standards and expectations for herself and for everyone else in the building.  For all that she has done at Seven Bridges, and in the Chappaqua School community, we thank her."

The current school year officially ends on June 30. Zornow's departure comes the same year as Seven Bridges turns 10 years old; the middle school officially opened in the fall of 2003 and was built amid rising student enrollment a decade ago. It is one of two middle schools in the district. The other, Robert E. Bell, is the oldest.

The school district is already prepared to search for a sucessor, McKay announced. The search will start on Sunday with an ad in The New York Times, while ads in national and state educational journals will also be placed, McKay wrote.
