Three Running Unopposed for Bedford School Board: Wollin, Bracco & Goldstein

Incumbents Wollin and Bracco are running for their seats. Lee Goldstein is running for open seat.

The Bedford Central School District will have an uncontested round of school board races this year.

While the filing deadling having passed Monday afternoon, board President Susan Elion Wollin has filed for run for another term, along with fellow incumbent Andrew Bracco, accoding to District Clerk Carole LaColla. Wollin, a Bedford resident, is running for a full three years, for a term that will run from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2015. Bracco, a Mount Kisco resident is running for the remaining two years on his seat, which he was appointed to last fall by the board to fill a vacancy left by Mark Chernis.  He stepped down in order to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest involving his professional work for education services company Pearson. The remainder of his term will run from May 15, 2012 (the election date) to June 30, 2014.

According to LaColla, Pound Ridge resident Lee Goldstein, who also applied for Chernis' seat, has filed to run for an open seat that is being vacated by Graham Anderson, who was decided to focus on the cause of state mandate relief instead of running again. The term on the seat is for the same duration as Wollin's. To learn more about Goldstein, for our coverage of an interview forum that the board conducted last fall for Chernis' seat.

In Bedford Central, candidates run for fixed seats, as opposed to the at large system that involves the top highest overall vote getters being assigned to each open seat.

The election day is on May 15 and coincides with the 2012-13 school budget vote.
